empowerHER® is proud to announce our largest expansion to date - we now serve all children and young adults of parent loss, both domestically and internationally (in the UK).

empowerHER® has written the “playbook” for serving girls in a non-therapeutic, community-based and volunteer-driven model, and has now expanded this model to serve all girls, boys, and non-binary youth who have experienced the loss of a parent. Our programs are free of charge and rooted in a deep understanding of just how it feels for a child or young adult to lose their parent and what it will take to lift them up, to nurture and guide them, and to give them hope, strength + self-confidence.

ENROLLMENT

Today, enrollment is open for all children + young adults through age 24 who have experienced the loss of a parent. Programs vary based on region and each city listed below is considered an active region.

MENTOR PROGRAM

We are accepting Mentor Applications now for men and women who have experienced parent loss. Please click below to apply!

Our goals will remain the same: to help show children that loss is survivable. We do this by introducing a young person to an adult who has survived the extraordinary loss of a parent and who can help show that through our lives we can hold both grief and joy.

For a closer look into our program expansion plans, we offer the following explanation:

Mentor matches will be made by connecting a caring and compassionate role model (age 25+ and of the same gender identity as the Mentee) to a young person (up through age 24) who can relate to the loss of a mother or father. In this way, we are introducing young people to adults who survived loss and who can
relate on this very deeply personal level.

In other words, a boy or young man (up through age 24) will be matched with an adult man (age 25+) who has also experienced the loss of his father. A girl or young woman who has experienced the loss of her father will be matched with an adult woman of father loss.  A boy or young man who has lost his mother, will be matched with an adult man who has experienced the loss of his mother. In this way, we are introducing young people to and our programs scale as we grow.

A girl or young woman (up through age 24) who has experienced the loss of her father will be matched with an adult woman (age 25+) who has experienced the loss of her father.

A boy or young man (up through age 24) who has experienced the loss of his father will be matched with an adult man (age 25+) who has experienced the loss of his father.

A boy or young man (up through age 24) who has experienced the loss of his mother, will be matched with an adult man (age 25+) who has experienced the loss of his mother.

As we grow, please note that enrollment is open for all children and young adults of any parent loss within our active regions. However, we are now accepting Mentor applicants using the button below!
