Top luxury real estate agents Jade Mills and Alexis LaMontagna host intimate fundraising event
Beverly Hills, CA – November 12, 2019 – empowerHER, a nonprofit organization serving young girls who have experienced the early loss of their mothers, today announced it raised $35,000 to support expansion efforts in Southern California. The recent fundraising event emceed by Ben Mankewitz and hosted by top luxury real estate agents Jade Mills and Alexis LaMontagna in Beverly Hills, welcomed more than 150 guests from the local community. empowerHER is the only nonprofit organization in the U.S. serving girls and young women of mother loss in a community-based, non-therapeutic and volunteer-driven model. The recent event in Beverly Hills fostered awareness, inspired action, and demonstrated the importance of sisterhood, particularly for the girls served: those who have lost their most significant role model, their mother. Founder Cara Belvin shared her own story of mother loss and underscored the critically important role of an organization like empowerHER to serve an often-overlooked community of girls silently suffering. Funds raised from the recent event will go directly to building the team and infrastructure needed in Southern California to successfully replicate empowerHER programs: EVENTS for GIRLS that remind them they are not alone in their grief and a 1:1 MENTOR MATCH PROGRAM designed to build a supportive community for year-round support.
“empowerHER is a true pioneer in children’s bereavement and we are thrilled to support founder Cara Belvin in expanding this much needed program to the young girls in our community,” said Mills. “It is our goal to help spread awareness and understanding of the unique needs of young girls quietly suffering in their grief, and extend our ongoing support to ensure the long-term success of the empowerHER Southern California Chapter.”
