empowerHER Launches FOUNDERS Program
to Support Expansion Plans
New initiative invites donors across the country to fund local chapters
Norwell, MA – December 3, 2019 – empowerHER, a nonprofit organization serving girls and young women who have experienced the loss of their mothers, today unveiled the FOUNDERS Program, designed to offer individuals across the country the opportunity to make a significant impact on empowerHER expansion efforts. Today, empowerHER serves 200+ girls in New England and is actively looking to extend its unique programming to additional regions across the United States. FOUNDERS, generous individuals or companies, recognize the importance of providing a supportive and inclusive community as well as positive role models and peer support to young girls who have lost their mothers in their own communities. This newly unveiled program offers like-minded individuals a unique opportunity to help empowerHER achieve this goal. To learn more about how to become a FOUNDER, visit HERE.
empowerHER is the only nonprofit organization in the U.S. serving girls and young women of mother loss in a community-based, non-therapeutic and volunteer-driven model. New FOUNDERS, who live in all areas of the country, commit to a minimum donation and/or fundraising goal to kickstart a local empowerHER chapter and ensure the proper infrastructure and team are in place to effectively serve those girls in need. The objective is to replicate empowerHER’s unique programming; EVENTS for GIRLS that remind them they are not alone in their grief and a 1:1 MENTOR MATCH PROGRAM designed to build a supportive community for year-round support.
New FOUNDERS including Jenna Mathis of Dallas, Alexis LaMontagna of Los Angeles, Lesley Leben of New York City, and Lauren Shea of Washington D.C, among others, are helping to support new chapters in Texas, Southern California, the Mid-Atlantic, the Tri-State area, Northern California and Southern California.
“empowerHER is near and dear to my heart. I recently lost my mother and it was the hardest thing I’ve ever been through. The silver lining in my grief was learning to be thankful for and appreciate the time that I had with my mom for much of my life,” said new empowerHER FOUNDER Jenna Mathis. “It’s heartbreaking to imagine a young girl growing up without her mother, knowing the heartache that goes along with such a significant loss. If I can help support the girls of empowerHER in even the smallest way, I’ll give it everything I’ve got!”
“We are beyond grateful to our early believers from across the country who are committed to our mission and willing to donate their time, talent and resources to serve this often-overlooked community of young girls, silently suffering,” said Cara Belvin, founder, empowerHER. “Our FOUNDERS are making it possible for us to safely and responsibly replicate our unique programming across the country. FOUNDERS will ensure every girl or young woman who experiences the loss of her mother has a supportive community, positive role model and peer support.”
