• Be inspired by the brave, beautiful girls of empowerHER HERE
Originally from Southington, CT, empowerHER founder Cara Belvin lost her mom to breast cancer when she was 9 years old and out of gratitude for the support her family received after her mother died, she founded empowerHER. A community-based, volunteer-driven and non-therapeutic nonprofit organization, empowerHER today serves 150+ girls across Massachusetts and Connecticut. The unique programming includes EVENTS for GIRLS to remind girls they are not alone in their grief, in tandem with a 1:1 MENTOR MATCH PROGRAM to provide additional support throughout the year. The CT chapter of empowerHER is powered by a growing team of volunteers lead by CT empowerHER ambassador Laurie Faye of Southington, CT and Cynthia Whipple of Avon, CT, among others. As a result of the recent expansion, more than a dozen brave, beautiful girls and their families have joined the empowerHER community as they seek support through a devastating loss.
“We are grateful to Cara and the empowerHER community for their support as we look to extend empowerHER’s unique programming to young girls across the state of Connecticut who feel isolated in their suffering,” said Laurie Faye, empowerHER’s CT Ambassador. “This celebration is just the beginning of our journey and underscores our unwavering commitment to building and supporting the empowerHER community in Connecticut to serve young girls who may need a reminder of their own strength.”
